ALBI GUARD - FEATURES AND BENEFITS

ALBI GUARD is a white intumescent coating which upgrades the Surface Spread of Flame performance on internal timber or timber-based boards.

WHERE CAN IT BE USED?

ALBI GUARD is for INTERIOR use only on timber and timber based boards. The flame retardant properties of ALBI GUARD are effective for the decorative life of the coating. ALBI GUARD may be applied over sound existing paintwork.

ALBI GUARD may be overpainted with most conventional decorative emulsion, or acrylic paints. No more than 2 coats of such paints should be applied otherwise the flame-retardant properties of the ALBI GUARD may be impaired. If in doubt always check with us prior to application.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When exposed to fire the ALBI GUARD coating system instantly reacts to form a dense insulative barrier which minimises heat transfer delaying ignition of the base material and impeding the spread of the fire.

HIGH HUMIDITY SPECIFICATION

Since ALBI GUARD is sensitive to moisture the most important consideration is to keep the timbers dry both during construction and service life. Application of the product in areas where high humidity or heavy wear is likely to occur e.g. swimming pools or kitchens may require modification to the standard specification. The ALBI system must not be applied in areas where there is the likelihood of direct contact with water.
